70’S FADS
 
Pet Rocks were big in the 70’s. They would come in little boxes with piece of straw in the bottom.
 “Earth Day” was a popular fad also. This was celebrated on April 22. It was a day when people did such things as wear gas masks to demonstrate their concern about pollution and the wish they had a cleaner earth.
Mood Rings, Lava Lamps, Sea Monkeys, Smiley faces,

The art of Telephone Booth Stuffing was one of the most well known fads of all time.
Several college students would squeeze themselves into a phone booth, one after another, until no one else could fit. The more people who could fit in, the better, the record was set at twenty-five.
Toga Parties were short lived.

70’S Fashions
 
Jogging suits – with an increase in people who like to jog in the 70’s.The jogging suit was invented, go figure.
Bellbottoms-trousers that flared out from the knee, and covered shoes.
Blakies- metal sole protection that you fixed on the heel of your shoes, mostly to make as much noise as possible.
Espadrilles- Canvas wedge shoes/sandals with long ties to criss-cross up the leg.
Halter Necks-lovely little backless tops for the girls, which tied up around the neck and midriff.
Platforms- were chunky shoes with dangerously high heels and mega thick soles.

With 72,900,000 households having TV’s, our entertainment was shows like; “All in the Family”, “Starsky and Hutch”, “HR Puff n Stuff”, “Sanford and Son”, “Laverne & Shirley”, “Happy Days”, “60 minutes”, M*A*S*H”, “The Love Boat”, “The Incredible Hulk”, “Welcome Back, Kotter.
There were many different styles of music in this decade. Disco dancing became popular
with the release of the movie “Saturday Night Fever”. Also, heavy metal rock music was born. A popular heavy metal band was Led Zeppelin; David Bowie was another heavy metal rocker. In the late 70’s was “Punk Rock”
